Of course the presidential election is important, but really our local elections affect our lives even more. How much money is spent on affordable housing, health care, schools, police, and more… all this is determined by our DC officials that you and I vote into power. My name is Arnette Wright.

I am a native Washingtonian, born and raised, for greater than sixty-nine (69) years. I am a devoted wife and mother to four (4) adult children and thirteen (13) grandchildren, residing in Charles County, Maryland.

I am a dedicated Christian and have served, greater than forty (40) years in many ministry leadership positions in various Christian venues throughout the DMV.

In addition, I am a retired registered nurse who served thirty (30) years in the US Public Health Service working on the front lines of public health to achieve wellness for, and in partnership with, individuals, populations, and communities.

In addition, we share a mutual friend – Bishop designated Marc Talbert from the Life Church. He and I were in the same cohort in the pursuit of our doctoral degrees at Lancaster Bible College.

Currently, I’m concluding my final years as a Ph.D. student in the Capital Seminary and Graduate School | Lancaster Bible College, and my area of focus is leadership. My dissertation is focusing on local congregations and the communities they serve. Specifically, I am seeking input from all church leaders to better understand their role as a church leader and their perception of community service.

In my study, church leaders are all the leaders in your local assembly, such as heads over various ministries, i.e., ushers, hospitality, youth, ministers, elder, evangelists, pastors, deacons, music directors, parking lot, and so forth.

All church leaders will be presented with informed consent information prior to initiating the online survey. Specifically, church leaders will be asked to:

• Complete an online survey[SurveyMonkey] assessing some of their characteristics and community service experiences, and provide basic demographic information.

• It should take approximately twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) minutes for the church leaders to complete the survey and demographic data.

• If church leaders prefer, a paper survey can be provided upon request. A postage-paid envelope will also be provided for the return of the completed survey.

• Taking part in this study is completely voluntary and participants are welcome to discontinue participation at any time.

• For church leaders who submit completed and accurate surveys, their names will be entered into a raffle drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card. The winner will be notified by email.

I really need your support in my research endeavor. Other local church leaders (for ex. Zion Church of Greenbelt, Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Church, First Baptist Church of Highland Park) have participated in my online survey.

and i‘m a student from Germany.
I want to do an exchange year in the USA, but unfortunately my organization can‘t find a host family for me. If I don‘t find one, my childhood dream of a year abroad in the USA will not come true. I was given the tip to ask in church communities whether there might be a host family there who would take me in for the coming school year, i.e. ten months.

I‘m 16 years old and I'm from a little suburb of Berlin in Germany. My biggest dream has always been to spend a year abroad. I am a very inquisitive person so I love exploring faraway places and learning about new cultures. I like walking through markets in foreign countries, being in museums and getting to know the world. Because my parents have always traveled before I even was born, they have pulled me into this passion. I was therefore already in many countries (36 to be exact), such as in Thailand, Egypt or in the city of Dubai. Most of the countries I was able to see so far were in Europe, but I even was in Florida with my father and my sister for 3 weeks during the summer vacations. That was my first time in the States and I realized once again how much I would like to see this friendly and diverse country a second time.

I am adaptable and excited to learn a new way of life. Through my discipline and ambition, I would like to improve my English skills in order to be able to study at an elite university like Oxford or Cambridge after graduation in England.
My parents had been to America a lot before and told me about their travels. That's why I had the dream of going to school there from an early age. I am very assertive and was able to apply for an exchange year thanks to my parents.
Since I am very independent and responsible, I have learned to help with chores and take care of myself.
Cheerleading is my passion and I´ve been a cheerleader since my second year of life. I have always admired the high school spirit of the American schools and another dream would come true if I could continue doing my hobby in the US and experience this spirit.
Also I love to read books of any kind, I even got a huge bookshelf, which I'm pretty proud of, in my room. Ever since I was a kid I've been inhaling books to relax after a hard day and immerse myself in another world. I usually always have one with me and love to talk with my friends about stories in the books.
